After all the struggle and effort, I have finally freed myself from regrets. And this is what freedom feels like.
No fanfares, no fireworks. Glitter did not fall from the sky, wings did not sprout from my back, and a beam of gold light did not illuminate my chest for all to see.
My phone remains silent; not one congratulatory phone call came, and to the lady from the corner shop where I get my papers - I am a changed person in case you fucking missed it!
I am now smothered in beige, drowning, not knowing what to feel.
