The connections we form with one another can be broken, whether we do it freely, unwillingly, or because we are forced to liberate ourselves and walk away. We often put a lot of time and effort into creating something meaningful, hoping it will last forever.

Armed with watercolour pencils, I started drawing those links, one by one, until they filled each piece. Some lines were carved into the underlying layers of acrylic paint. It was a laborious task and took many memories to recall.

After the work was done, I knew there was only one way to finish this. My heart started pounding out of my chest, and I felt blood pulsating in my temples. Breathing became uneven and shallow. And then, with a few passes of a damp sponge, I washed it all away. Nearly all of the lines dissolved into a thin, murky layer…
